Introductory Painting

Chautauqua Institute, New York — Summers 1990,1991,1995,1996
This program is based upon a nationally accepted group of college age students. I have taught painting and drawing to the student body; and art appreciation courses and introductory drawing to the community which is made up of all ages and interests.

Snug Harbor Arts Lab, Staten Island, New York — 1993 – 1997
Program written for high school students desiring an advanced setting, which I have helped to develop over the years. The same level of concern and dedication is expected from them as from college students.

Vermont Studio Center, Residency Award — Nov. 1993
Visiting critic for advanced students on their way to graduate school.

American University, Washington DC, Assistant Professor of Art — Sept. 1990 – May 1993
Visiting Artist Fall 1993 and Spring 1994. I was given the responsibility to revamp the general education course offered to the school. I created a successful course that was previously avoided by the faculty. Based upon observation, the course was hands on, not project driven. I also had responsibilities through graduate levels. This period was my most fertile and instructive.

American Illusion/Richard Haas
Worked on a variety of large mural projects, which were awarded Richard Haas over a four year period. These were all trompe l’oeil paintings and provided me with large scale formats I had not experienced before.

Ncw York Academy of Figurative Art, New York City, Landscape Instructor — Jun. 1989 – 1994
Visiting Critic, variety of levels of proficiency and ages. The critiques were for the graduate program.

LaGuardia Community College, Drawing for Adults, 1986 – 1989
Teaching drawing to people without previous experience.

Studio In A School Association, 1984 – 1988
A variety of large mural projects involving students in grades three, four and five.
